Black Lives Matter in Schools Curriculum Scoring Event
Event Information
About this Event
Last October, the NYU Metro Center and the Coalition for Educational Justice (CEJ) conducted an analysis of several commonly-used curriculum throughout New York City and discovered a glaring absence of authors and characters of color. This month, the Metro Center released a Culturally Responsive Curriculum Scorecard which ranges on a scale from Culturally Destructive to Culturally Responsive, and can be used to conduct a more thorough evaluation of English Language Arts curriculum. Join together with other teachers, parents and community members to learn about the scorecard, score your own curriculum or ones we will bring for you, and support CEJ in their advocacy with the NYC Department of Education to make curriculum more reflective of the students and communities we serve.
Dinner will be provided. If you are in need of childcare during this workshop, please contact Lindsey Foster and lf89@nyu.edu or 212-998-8572 so that we can make accommodations.
