Bro/Sis Comes to the Vineyard Support The Brotherhood/Sister Sol for their 2nd Annual Bro/Sis Comes to the Vineyard on Monday, August 15, 2011. This summer Bro/Sis has held a one month long international study program to Ghana; two job training initiatives; two intensive arts institutes, one focusing on media and the other on performing arts; two summer day camps; free breakfast programs; an environmental education and job training program; externship initiatives; a community organizing school; and college scholarships. The event next week supports this comprehensive youth development model.
Bro/Sis Comes to the Vineyard will feature extensive appetizers, open bar, and a silent auction, which will include Broadway tickets to plays and musicals; original art work from Xaviera Simmons, Barron Claiborne and others; an on set visit to Royal Pains; a signed original photograph of Spike Lee by Michael Tammaro; a bath spa gift basket; a golf package to Farm Neck; and other items.
In addition, all attendees will receive a Dior gift bag of cosmetics.

About The Brotherhood/Sister Sol
Founded in 1995, The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (BHSS) provides comprehensive, holistic and long-term support services to youth who range in age from eight to twenty-one. BHSS offers wrap around evidence-based programming, focusing on issues such as leadership development and educational achievement, sexual responsibility, sexism and misogyny, political education and social justice, Pan-African and Latino history, and global awareness. The organization provide four-six year rites of passage programming, thorough five day a week after school care, school and home counseling, summer camps, job training, college preparation, employment opportunities, community organizing training, and international study programs to Africa and Latin America. BHSS is locally based with a national reach as it publishes assorted curricula and collections of its members’ writings, trains educators from throughout the nation on their approach and its leaders are invited to speak around the nation. BHSS has earned national recognition for its evidence based model, receiving awards that include, Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Network Use Your Life Award, and from such places as the Ford Foundation, Abyssinian Development Corporation, New York Women’s Foundation, the New York State Department of Education, and the Brown University Inaugural Alumni Association Young Public Service Award.
