The Black Indians NC 2020 Powwow is a family-friendly community event focused on celebrating African and Indigenous people in North Carolina

About this Event

The Black Indians NC 2020 Powwow is open to the public and presented by the Black Indians NC Advisory Council on Saturday, September 12th, at Southern School of Energy and Sustainability. The event will feature traditional music, head staff, dancers, drummers, vendors, and food from both cultures.

The event will begin at 10am with a "Conversation Circle Panel" discussing race relations and history of people in NC of African, African-American, and Indigenous heritage moderated by Black Indians Advisory Council Member and Durham Public Schools Educator Okera Adofo.

Grand Entry will begin at 12pm and more information will be forthcoming.
