Boots and Blues BBQ Cook-Off Team Sponsorship Houston Livestock and Rodeo
Black Heritage Committee
**********************************

The Black Heritage Committee’s Boots and Blues Bar-B-Que Cook-Off Team is gearing up for the

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s World Championship Bar-B-Que to be held at the Reliant Center from February 27 - March 1, 2014.

The Black Heritage Committee, which was organized in 1993, highlights the strengths and

contributions of the Black Cowboy to the time-honored sport of Rodeo. We are thrilled to be a part of

the funding source for the millions of dollars raised by the Show to support Texas youth and

education.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the Southeast’s premier entertainment venue and

educational charity. In fact, performances at each Rodeo, which begin on February 24, 2014, have

been billed as a "must play” for many of the music industry’s biggest stars of all genres. Since the first

scholarship was awarded in 1957, the Show has committed to more than $100 million to Texas youth.

By creating a Cook-Off Team, the Black Heritage Committee is able to enhance its outreach efforts in

contributing to the goals of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Those goals include benefiting

youth, supporting education and facilitating better agricultural practices through exhibitions and

presentations. Your support, by agreeing to help sponsor our cook-off team, will aid those young

Texans looking for a hand-up and not simply a handout. Last year, because of this committee’s

efforts, twenty (19) $18,000 scholarships were awarded to deserving high school seniors. This year,

our goal is to  award twenty-five (25) $18,000 scholarships. Your participation is important in helping

us reach this goal. As a partner in this endeavor, your name or company name will be displayed on

the name plateat the entrance to the committee’s tent. You will also receive banner space inside the

tent to display your name or company name throughout the weekend.
