Black Healing Remixed: The Summit 2022 image

In Black music, a remix is a new or different version of a recorded song. Black Healing Remixed (BHR) takes this same idea and applies it to conversations on Black mental health. Just like a remix switches the treble and bass, BHR switches shame to celebration, stigma to social justice and creates a new chorus of connection rooted in radical love for ourselves, practical skills, and liberation.

The 2022 edition of Black Healing Remixed: The Summit will be a two-day event, with virtual workshops on Day 1 and a live broadcast of an in-person conversation in Los Angeles, CA on Day 2. Join us, for the remix.

Supporting Black Family Members Living with Schizophrenia -This workshop focuses on educating Black folks on what Schizophrenia is and its different manifestations, while providing tools on how to support their loved ones living with the condition. ~Facilitated by Dr. Allen Lipscomb and Leroy Mitchell

Black Trans Masculine Folks and Mental Health: A Panel Discussion - Join this conversation on the state of trans masculine mental health and how community is working to shift the culture of health for gender expansive people. Panel discussion features Jaden Fields, Dr. Parker T. Hurley, and Zami Hyemingway . ~Moderated by BEAM Training Coordinator, Cydney Brown

Supporting our Loved Ones with Suicidal Ideations - The LAPIS Model - Join BEAM Training Manager L’Oréal McCollum and Depressed While Black’s Imadé Nibokun as they explore and apply BEAM’s LAPIS Peer Support Model towards supporting loved ones living with suicidal ideation.

Mental Health and Healing Across the Black Diaspora: A Panel Discussion - What does mental wellbeing look like across the Black Diaspora? This training focuses on exploring different modalities in healing and focuses on building a toolbox of care for the community and yourself. Panel discussion features JJ Jackson, Carlin Rushing, and Vanessa Warri . ~Moderated by BEAM Training Coordinator, Graciela Cain.
