Description

This is 2-part fitness event which will consist of a workshop & a full work-out. We will teach, guide, and instruct you on exercises (that use weights, of course!) to do at your own gym.

PART 1: WORKSHOP

During this workshop, you will learn common myths about weightlifting and why it's important to include a weightlifting component to your exercise program.

*Workshop topics are subject to change at anytime.

PART 2: WORKOUT

Sharita Jennings, a certified fitness trainer, will lead the group through some weightlifting exercises while demonstrating proper technique/form.

Participants will:

-receive a full 45-minute workout incorporating weight/strength training exercises

-learn how to use weights & machines that target the legs & glutes

-meet other Black Girls Lift members and find an accountability partner




All fitness levels & ages are welcome.

About Sharita Jennings:

Sharita Jennings is an A.C.E. certified group fitness instructor and fitness nutrition specialist, former trainer with The North Face Mountain Athletics, and a GirlTrek ambassador. She leads group fitness classes and events throughout the DMV with a focus on building strength and endurance. Sharita is also a contributor at BlackDoctor.org and she creates online fitness plans and challenges to help more people #GetFitLikeThat with limited time. She plans to make health and fitness fun and accessible to more individuals near and far!

About Rochelle Parks:


Rochelle T. Parks is a wife of twenty-three years, mother of three, and an active duty military officer who has a sincere passion for Health and Wellness. In addition to her full time job, she spends a great majority of her time transforming lives through health coaching, facilitating biblical weight loss and nutrition classes at her church and impacting others through personal training. Rochelle can be seen daily on social media platforms as she educates, inspires, and motivates the masses to “stay ready.” She is widely known for her “truth in love” motivational videos where she not only tells us what to do, but she also shows us how to do it. Her most recent accomplishment is having her book, “The Priority Has to Be You…Ten Keys to Achieving Optimal Health,” become an Amazon Best Seller. Rochelle and her husband, Michael made the decision over seven years ago to change the trajectory of their family’s future. Ultimately, their goal is to leave a legacy of “good health” for generations to come. They reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area with their three children, Austin, Mickelle and Gabrielle. Rochelle is a certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN).

About Black Girls Lift:

Black Girls Lift was founded in 2015 with purpose of helping black women meet their health and fitness goals, especially encouraging them to incorporate strength training as integral to overall fitness. Black Girl Lift organizes a wide array of fitness events; including group training sessions, boot camps, nutrition seminars, Lift 101, weight loss and fitness challenges. Black Girls Lift inspires Black women to maintain fitness as a lifestyle and to include a strength training component to their workouts.
