Black Futures Ball 2023

We're back, with the second annual Black Futures Ball!!

Mark your calendar for August 5th, 2023 because you won't want to miss this. We know this is where everyone says "trust us", but for real, trust us.

Last year we transported through Oakanda: from East Oakland to West Africa, and if you were there, you know we had a tiiime! Over 500 of you showed up adorned with beautiful clothes, hearts and spirits, and made that night truly unforgettable.

This year we're taking it even farther so get ready!

Meet us at the Chabot Space and Science Center and journey through Black Galaxy 510: from East Oakland to Infinity and Beyond for a night that's part museum night, part dance party, part interactive mixer and ALL FUN.

It's giving intergalactic. Futuristic. Celestial, even. Black Galaxy.510 is a joyous celebration of the expansiveness and limitless nature of Black futures. And you're invited.

We’ll open the evening with a catered sit-down VIP banquet dinner honoring our scholarship recipients, followed by a night loaded with interactive activation spaces, performances, an attendee fashion show and much more! Local vendors will be on site and attendees will have the rare experience of interacting with museum exhibits after-hours while enjoying craft cocktails, champagne and small bites during this private event.

Doors open at 8pm, VIP doors open at 7pm.

EOYDC's Black Futures Ball is a yearly fundraiser supporting our Pathway to College and Careers (PTC2) program. PTC2 helps students matriculate into, fund, and successfully graduate from college or credentialed vocational training programs.

This year our goal is to raise $150,000 (or more!) to distribute directly to our young people.

Since 2015, we've distributed more than $700,000 to nearly 300 students. Last year alone, we handed out over $150,000 in scholarships. You can help us surpass that this year!

PTC2 works. In 2022, 90% of high school seniors participating in our program graduated high school on time with 70% enrolling in college or a vocational training program within 3 months of high school graduation. To learn more PTC2 and our other programs, visit our website.
