Join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy and National Parks Service for a cleanup on Black Friday at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge

About this event

Join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy and National Parks Service for a marsh and shoreline cleanup at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. On the day after Thanksgiving, volunteers will help remove trash from this important habitat in New York City's unique urban wildlife refuge.

The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, a part of Gateway National Recreation Area, includes over 12,600 acres of water, salt marsh, freshwater, and brackish water ponds, upland fields and woods, and open bay and islands. It is one of the largest bird habitats in the northeastern United States and is a great place to observe the seasonal bird migration as well as resident species.

In order to ensure your health and safety, please make sure to follow the socially distant volunteer guidelines found at jbrpc.org/volunteer along with local, state, and federal guidance related to COVID-19. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available.

Gloves, bags, tools will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and bring their own water and sunscreen. Event is rain or shine.

Please review the Socially Distant Volunteer Guidelines before registering and only register if you are healthy and able to attend.
