Event description

Description

Ann Martin Center Parent Education Program and Emery Unified School District Wellness Department are proud to present:

“Black Fatherhood: Trials & Tribulations, Testimony & Triumph”

FILM SCREENING AND PANEL

With Dr. Khalid White, Educator, Author, Filmmaker.

We will explore the realities of fathers and families in the Bay Area. The men and women in this film are reshaping the media stereotypes and images of Black families by sharing their personal experiences, the trials & the tribulations, of parenthood.

Khalid White has been a professional educator in the Bay Area for 15 years. He has been San Jose City College’s Professor of Ethnic Studies/African American Studies for roughly a decade.

Khalid’s recent book and documentary, Black Fatherhood: Trials & Tribulations, Testimony & Triumph, has touched multiple communities, states and countries, providing a counter-narrative to mainstream media’s depiction of African American fathers and families.

This event will have free childcare and snacks.

Hotdogs and Popcorn will be sold for donations by the Anna Yates Parent Teacher Organization. AYS PTO are helping support this free event.

Free Parking is available on 53rd St., San Pablo Ave., or 47th St. The entrance to Building A is on San Pablo Ave.
