A workshop about Black & Latinx intersectionality, our brilliance, our struggles & how we can create networks of solidarity & mutual support

About this event

Our trainings support leaders to tackle anti-blackness and native erasure in the Latinx community. Ending Structural racism requires us to build racial equity within our communities as well as in the US as a whole. This is even more crucial now as we face the unprecedented challenge of Covid-19. Please join us to explore and build together.

  1. Call out the ways in which the media is a tool that perpetuates racial oppression
  2. Identify specific ways we want/need for the non Black Latinx community worldwide to show up for Black and Black/Afro-Latinx
  3. Re-shift the dominant narrative of Blackness and whiteness as ideologies

Desired Outcome for this workshop:

  • Critically analyze specific ways in which the media attempts to divide Black people and our oppression with other oppressed people- with special focus on Black and Latinx folk
  • Critically examine the media coverage of recent events
  • Identify specific ways we want/need for the larger LEP network and Latinx people world-wide to show up
  • Create a space where Black folks can build community and thrive
