Northwest African American Museum & Yoga by Biola present: Black Being Gentle Yoga Series

To feel is to live. Experience embodiment at the cellular level with the Black Being
Gentle Yoga Series designed to intuitively connect you with your body and breath while
exercising holistic black excellence.

• Class 1 Black Healing: This class will focus on emotional healing through
acknowledgement of oppression, racial stereotypes, trauma and more. Gentle
yoga postures focused on releasing the hips, heart and hamstrings will aid in
muscular tension relief and stress reduction.

• Class 2 Black Trust: In a world riddled with violence and competition this
intimate class will help to re-establish trust through safe space and a communitybased
gentle yoga class designed to garner awareness and trust as well as
intimate connection between you and someone you do not know. This class will
aid in vulnerability, opening up the heart chakra and strengthening
personal confidence and trust in oneself in order to aid in love at a higher
vibration.

• Class 3 Black Joy: Designed to access inner joy, this gentle yoga class will include
playful flourishes and language that unlock childlike softness and enthusiasm.
Enjoy gentle back bends, intentional breathing exercises and fluid movement to
encourage liberty, laughter and self love.

About Yoga by Biola:

A bhakti yogi with a Bikram background, Abiola Akanni is the 200hr RYT certified yoga instructor and founder behind Yoga by Biola, home of culturally expressive yoga and Trap Vinyasa™. An inclusive, body positive yogic experience, the Trap Vinyasa™ Series features dynamic asana, dance and basic boxing elements guided by trap music, an 808 beat-based genre of rap originating from the south. Motivational language encourage self reflection and celebrate change while leaning into areas of growth compassionately.
