The Round Rock Public Library and the Austin SCORE will offer a series of free workshops for small business owners (or those who are interested in starting their own business) on Fridays, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., September 8 through November 10. SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship.

These free timely workshops, presented by recognized experts and practitioners, will cover a variety of issues facing small business owners and entrepreneurs including financial issues, marketing, and strategic planning.

Join us on Friday, Oct. 6 for Making Your Business Legal, presented by Darin P. Siefkes. Every new business needs advice from an attorney to avoid legal problems while operating. When you set up your business will you make the best choices? Attend this workshop to learn about the legal issues of forming a business including picking the right entity, trademark issues, contracts, ethics, and how to hire professionals.

This workshop is designed to be interactive to allow you to ask questions to better understand these and other legal concepts.

  • What are the types of entities?
  • Where to form your entity?
  • Why is entity liability protection is no substitute for proper insurance?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of the different forms of business organization?
  • The speaker will also offer invaluable tips for dealing with an attorney.
