Event description

In Advent, the four weeks before Christmas, we prepare to make room for Jesus in our lives. But life in the busy "holiday season" doesn't always feel roomy. Are you looking for a way to make time for prayer and reflection?

Join Bishop DeDe Duncan-Probe of the Episcopal Diocese of Central New York for a live online bible study this Advent. Each Thursday at noon, the bishop and a different guest will reflect on a passage from Luke's Gospel (which you'll hear again at your local Episcopal church the following Sunday). They'll also answer your questions about the reading and respond to your comments.

Whether you're a preacher looking for Sunday inspiration, a busy parent or student looking for a pause in your week, or anyone with an hour to spare on Thursdays at noon, we hope you'll join us for prayerful conversation and reflection about scripture this Advent.

Ask the Bishop!

What do Episcopalians believe about Jesus' conception? What is repentance, and why am I hearing about it in church at Christmastime? Why would John the Baptist yell at people and call them vipers--is that some kind of reverse evangelism?

You may submit a question in advance when you register, or email questions to You can also ask questions during the live event, but preference will be given to questions sent in advance.
