Magnolia Bayou / The Waymores

BISHOP GUNN

Bishop Gunn of Natchez, Mississippi, is rooted in the history and sounds of their home and the surrounding Delta, and features a blend of rock and roll, soul and blues. The group consists of vocalist Travis McCready, Drew Smithers on guitar, Ben Lewis on bass and Burne Sharp on drums.

Bishop Gunn released their debut full-length album Natchez in May 2018. They worked on the release with Grammy Award-winning producers Casey Wasner and Mark Neill at legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and FAME Studios, as well as The Purple House in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. The album, named after the band’s hometown, entered the Billboard charts as the #4 Blues Album and also appeared as #8 on their Heatseekers South Central chart. Rolling Stone featured the band among their “Artists You Need to Know,” asserting “anyone can cite the Muscle Shoals sound as an influence, but few acts can actually pull off making music worthy of such a claim. Nashville band Bishop Gunn is one of those acts…The resulting music is the perfect blend of Nashville and the Shoals, and is the rare album that builds upon its influences rather than resorting to outright mimicry.”

Earlier this year the band was featured at SXSW, played support dates for Blackberry Smoke and was invited for a return appearance on Kid Rock’s 9th Annual “Chillin’ the Most Cruise.” They spent the summer and fall touring in support of the album, including performances at The Peach Fest, The Big House Museum, support dates for Marcus King Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Outlaws and many others. They look forward to closing out 2018 supporting Whiskey Myers and kicking off 2019 on the Southern Rock Cruise and touring with Slash in Europe.

MAGNOLIA BAYOU

“That Mississippi Sound, that Delta sound is in them old records. You can hear it all the way through.” – Muddy Waters

Magnolia Bayou was born on the bayou's of south Mississippi. Initially formed as a garage band between friends, they got their start on the local bar circuit after they auditioned for a gig at an open jam at Murky Waters Blues Club in Downtown Ocean Springs, MS. After playing three explosive songs back to back, they were immediately booked for a gig of their own at the Murky Waters in Gulfport, MS where they played to a packed house. Since then, they’ve spent the last three years paying their dues up and down the Mississippi Blues Trail and surrounding states.

In three shorts years, Magnolia Bayou has been nominated in five separate categories for the MS Music Awards, including a write up in Hattiesburg, MS based DIME magazine, given radio play in the Netherlands and were interviewed by Ireland Based Bourbon FM for a documentary about Music in the Southeastern US. Since April of 2017, they’ve been hard at work professionally recording their debut album, which is set to be released in May of 2018. They’ve already released two singles, which can be found anywhere you can stream music online. The album includes nuances of southern, psychedelic, funk and blues based Rock n Roll. Listeners describe their look and sound as a throwback to the late 60’s and early 70’s when Rock N Roll was “epic”.

THE WAYMORES

You’ve heard Outlaws, you’ve heard Damsels, and you’ve heard Rockabilly’s… but you haven’t heard anything like The Waymores yet.

Comprised of Kira Annalise and Willie Heath Neal, The Waymores are the epitome of Acoustic Country Music: He was born in a cop car, lived in and out of foster care, and served in the Navy. She used to get stage fright until she was swept up by his charm and grit, started singing country songs, and never looked back. Now they’re writing songs from the road and bringing their intimate, fun, and quirky one-liner-jabs to venues across the country. The Waymores take what’s real about life and relationships and add music, jokes, and whiskey; it can be beautiful, it can be painful, it can get inappropriate, and it’s completely unrehearsed, unexpected, and dangerously wonderful. Their debut album, Weeds, is scheduled to be released in early 2019 on Chicken Ranch Records out of Austin, TX.
