Train with Birth Arts International and be prepared to support families through pregnancy, birth and early postpartum.

About this Event

This training is not only for those planning to make a career as a doula, it is for anyone interested in diving into the world of labor and birth support. You will start your journey learning how to provide emotional and physical support to women giving birth and their partners. In a relaxed, comfortable and intimate environment you will be taught how to educate the families, who in turn will be learning from you. Throughout the process you will begin to develop your own style and approach to serving families as a fully certified birth worker. All participants who complete the training will receive their certification and will be given access to the BAI classroom. The Doula workshop fee includes the online course manual, training fees and all components of certification including communication with Birth Arts Demetria Clark. Printed training manuals will be available for purchase the day of the training. There are no additional fees and certifications do not need to be renewed. The course fees are not refundable and only transferable at the discretion of the trainer.

Full payment is required to secure your place in the training. Cost $550

Early Bird discount $450 if paid in full by 2/22/20.

There will be a break for lunch and dinner. Participants can bring their own meals, order in (in advance, a list of options and pricing will be sent two weeks prior) or go out during the breaks.

Kimberleigh Weiss-Lewit, MA, IBCLC,CD/CDT(BAI),E-RYT 500, YACEP is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

She is also an experienced and certified birth doula, certified birth doula trainer and a trained postpartum doula with Birth Arts International having trained with the amazing Beth Goldberg, CPM and Demetria Clark.

Kim has completed her Yoga Alliance Registration from Lotus Gardens and her 500 hr Registration from Laughing Lotus. She gained her prenatal certification with Yoga Haven with additional prenatal training with MA Yoga.

She has been on the teaching staff of Devotion Yoga in Hoboken, New Jersey, where she taught prenatal and parent/child yoga, lead workshops and offered teacher training. She is also a proud member of the Hudson Yoga Project teacher training team as the prenatal yoga teacher trainer.

Kim also serves pregnant and parenting people at Rikers Island Jail in NYC with Liberation Prison Yoga. She has served on the board of LPY, as their Program Director and as a teacher trainer and continues to develop curriculum for LPY and for other organizations and teachers looking to incorporate trauma-informed prenatal yoga into their work. She have worked extensively with Yoga Service Council , Omega Institute and Yoga Behind Bars.

Kim's bachelor's degree is in theater from Connecticut College and she holds an MA in Applied Psychology/Drama Therapy from New York University. She has completed advanced training in Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders and Perinatal Loss & Grief from the Seleni Institute and is trained as a Midwife Assistant with JJB Midwifery under Shana Norberg. She is also a proud member of the New York Lactation Consultant Association. Kim and her husband, Chris live in Weehawken, NJ with their four children.
