UPDATE REGARDING BIRMINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL 50th REUNION!

Hello Septarians & Elysians!

As much as we would all like to see our old friends, it’s just not worth the risk this year.

To that end, your Reunion Committee has unanimously decided to hold our Reunion exactly one year later, on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Both Valley Relics Museum and About Thyme Catering are now confirmed for the new date. So, hang on to your tickets, folks!

Since we now have more lead-up time, we are brainstorming even more exciting and fun stuff to do at the reunion. Maybe you have some ideas to share!

Please stay tuned, spread the word, and we will see you June 19, 2021 WITHOUT YOUR MASKS! It will be hard enough to recognize each other as it is, after so many years! Meanwhile, keep in touch on Classmates.com and our Facebook Page, Birmingham High School Class of ‘70 (Van Nuys, CA)

Your ever faithful 50th (51st!) Birmingham High School Class of ’70 Reunion Committee,

Stig Eldred, Peter Iversen, Nanette De Fuentes, Joe Klein, Susie Gesundheit, Susan Turk

ORIGINAL EVENT LISTING:

My Dear, Esteemed Ladies & Gentlemen of Birmingham High School, Class of Winter & Summer 1970:

Since you are reading this invitation, you’ve apparently made it to this auspicious time of life!

We will be celebrating our ‘50th Reunion’ on Saturday, June 20, 2020.

*Exactly 50 years to the day we celebrated the Summer 1970 Graduation*

After putting up with generic, lame reunions in vacant hotel conference rooms, with sit-down dinners consisting of mashed potatoes, peas, and your choice of chicken or beef, I decided that enough is enough already!

To this end, with the help of our illustrious committee, I have organized a Fête, worthy of your Attendance…

Our Reunion will be held in the newly re-established, “Valley Relics Museum”.

Check out their website: https://valleyrelicsmuseum.org

Located in two airplane hangers, just up the street from Birmingham at Balboa & Stagg St, the Museum will surround you with memories of our San Fernando Valley, while you’re immersed in the soundtrack of our lives, courtesy of our own Joe Klein, from KBHS Radio. Collective memory… that’s a very good thing!

This event is being fully catered by “About Thyme Catering”, voted ‘The Best Catering Company in Los Angeles’ these past four years. Their clients include The Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, City of Los Angeles, and continual high-end Private and Corporate Events. As luck would have it, the owner, John Kinderman, is a dear friend of mine.

Check out their website: https://www.aboutthymela.com

There will be no formal seating, sit-down dinner, ball gowns/tuxedos, or cash bar.

Instead, dress for comfort, who you are. If you fit into any of your old BHS gear, proudly wear It !!!

There will be multiple seating areas, with tables, leaners, couches, and lots of space to walk around…

There will be a catered open bar, with delicious, infused fruit punches, spirits, beer, wine, Guava Lemonade, soda, flat & sparkling water, condiments & ice.

The Food will be sort of a moving feast. This is what they do best! Scrumpious appetizers will be served, then mouth-watering Sliders will arrive - and then - there will be a Gourmet Mac & Cheese Station, where you can indulge in a wide assortment of delicious toppings - and then - there will be an authentic Mediterranean Station, with all your Greek favorites, where you can even make your own Gyro. Finally, there will be a Dessert Station, with a decadent assortment of choices…

(vegetarian, gluten, and lactose-free options will be catered for)

So, my Friends, we invite you to come together, reminisce, laugh, dance, and make future plans.

The only formal proceedings will be to welcome all, and drink a toast to longevity…

The Nitty Gritty:

The cost is $140.00 per person. Tickets are inclusive of all food & beverages, catering, venue, management/booking/credit card fees.

Tickets will be sold at: eventbrite.com

There will only be 200 tickets sold. Once gone, you’re SOL.

Spread the word now to your favorite classmates...

Sound like fun? See you there!

Cheers,

Stig Eldred, and ‘The Illustrious Committee’:
