About this Event
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to an amazing diversity of birds, and the passing of seasons bring new visitors to find as well as changing weather. We'll be discussing the whys, hows, and whos of bird migration, as well as how scientists study birds that fly hundreds of miles in their annual migrations.
On this tour of the Coyote Creek Watershed we're exploring the Bay-side of Coyote Creek in Milpitas.
Tour guides are Katie LaBarbera from the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory, and Carolyn Knight from the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, who will introduce you to some of our seasonal visitors.
Katie LaBarbera, PhD, has studied the behaviors of juncos, wrens, and tree frogs; she now co-runs San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory's Coyote Creek Field Station bird banding operation, a job that lets her introduce cool birds to cool people and learn from both.
Carolyn Knight works for the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society as the Education & Outreach Specialist, where she gets to use her degree in Wildlife Biology to share her enthusiasm for nature with the community.
