Event description

Description

In this exciting new workshop, professional photographer Kate Zurenko teams up with Francie Krawcke and Sarah Gilmore of the Michigan Avian Experience to bring participants a rare opportunity to photograph native birds of prey, both at rest and in flight. After reviewing the basics of setting your DSLR to best capture these stunning avian models, participants will have the chance to photograph a kestrel, bald eagle, great horned owl, and red-tailed hawk in both indoor and outdoor settings (weather permitting). During this open session, Francie and Sarah will discuss the natural history and unique traits of these non-releasable wild birds.
Pre-registration is required. Participants should bring their cameras, as well as any other equipment desired, such as tripods, zoom lenses, and extra batteries. Participants may also receive 10% off any camera or photography equipment rental from LensProToGo, with a special discount code provided by Kate Zurenko. Refreshments will be supplied.

Kate Zurenko is an award-winning Chelsea-based professional photographer, with a special passion for backyard and wildlife photography. Trained at Boston University, she has several years of experience tutoring shutterbugs of all levels, from beginner to professional.

Francie Krawcke is the founder and director of Michigan Avian Experience. She is a certified interpretive guide and has been working with raptors for over 20 years. Sarah Gilmore has been a Raptor Educator for seven years, two of which she's spent with the Michigan Avian Experience. She specializes in nature-based educational programming for all ages.
