About this event
Join us for an exciting opportunity to bird on farms throughout our region! Learn new skills, and learn about wildlife conservation on the farm!
Participants will learn about farm habitat dynamics for birds, habitat management, wildlife conservation on the farm, as well as species identification from experienced bird guides.
- This workshop series is open to birders and enthusiasts of all skill levels!
- Participants should bring binoculars with them (extras may be available), and weather appropriate dress and boots for walking are recommended.
- Walking will include slow-paced off-path walks over moderately terrain (including a steep section down from the road) and farm fields, with stops for discussion and observation!
- We will be meeting at the Herrick's Cove parking lot on June 16th, 2023, 7:30AM-9:30AM at 4 Herricks Cove Rd, Bellows Falls, VT 05101. We will then then do a short carpool to Upper Meadows Farm, as parking is very limited at this site. Signage will direct you where to go!
For questions or assistance in registration, contact info@cheshireconservation.org or (603)756-9282.
We will have a chance to learn about the management techniques Great River Hydro and hayfield operator Robert Stickney have done to enhance grassland bird habitat on-site. Many thanks to them for hosting us and their continued conservation efforts!
Presented by Cheshire County Conservation District (CCCD), USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District (Windham NRCD), Antioch Bird Club, and Southeastern Vermont Audubon Society.
Additional Birding on the Farm events are planned--we look forward to seeing you then!
