Birding 101
Overview
"As long as a live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing." -- John Muir
Widewater State Park is pleased to offer Bird Walks from November 2025 thru March 2026!
Join an experienced birder on an exploration of our incredibly diverse park throughout the cooler months. Widewater peninsula is on the migration path of many avian species, from song birds to tundra swans, so these hikes can be a good chance to get started with birding this year.
All walks begin at 9am starting at the Visitor Center and are 1-1.5hours long. This is a FREE event, but pre-registration is required. There is an age restriction to 12 years+ and no pets.
Make sure to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes! Water or a thermos for a hot drink are recommended to stay hydrated. A limited number of binoculars are available to use from the park, so you are encouraged to bring a pair of your own to spy on our feathered friends.
We hope to see you on the trails!
