Join Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, and Plug and Play for a (bio)sensational event about Biosensing in Healthcare. This culminating event for the Health focus week will explore some of the future possibilities of this exciting field.

About the event:

Starting at 4:30, we will have a brief introduction to the company’s exploration of Biosensing and Interfaces.

The topic is continued in a key-note by Levent Beker (profile below) on “Skin-inspired, Flexible and Biodegradable Electronic Devices for Medical Applications”.

In addition, several exciting startups will present their technology and their vision for the future.

In celebration of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany’s 350-year anniversary (1668-2018), we will end the evening with a glass of champagne, food, and a raffle during a networking reception. We hope to see you there!

Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany recently opened an Innovation Hub based in Menlo Park. The hub supports the company’s existing businesses, with the additional objective to look between and beyond their existing scopes. The hub has a direct connection to the company’s resources, market access, and extensive expertise and is responsible for exploring new technological opportunities by building and maintaining local relationships and partnerships.

About the Keynote - Levent Beker:

Levent is a postdoctoral researcher working with Professor Zhenan Bao at Stanford University. He is working on artificial skin and biodegradable/implantable sensors. He received PhD from University of California, Berkeley Mechanical Engineering where worked on micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) based implantable energy harvesters for neural implants. He also worked on fully-implantable cochlear implants during his master’s studies at the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. He received Postdocs at the Interface award from Stanford University, Howard Hughes Medical Institute fellowship, and Best paper awards from IEEE Transducers’13 and Berkeley Sensor Actuator Center.
