Event description

Description

Biosecurity is a concept that many dairy producers and dairy veterinarians overlook. This workshop will explore practical biosecurity principles that veterinarians can introduce to and enhance for their dairy clients.

TOPICS

  • A new practice-building tool to offer and customize for their dairy clients. The principles outlined will be applicable to any size dairy operation and to any large- or mixed-animal practitioner, regardless of the amount of dairy work in your practice.
  • The use of Google® maps to develop individual, customized farm operation lines of separation, access points, and farm traffic flow.
  • Details for enhanced biosecurity to protect farms from all types of contagious diseases.
  • The Secure Milk Supply Plan and how veterinarians can prepare their clients for a potentially significant, large-scale health event in the United States.
  • Hoof-and-mouth virus and how an outbreak in the U.S. would impact producers, dairy processors, and dairy practices.
