Event description
Biorelevant? 2019 - A 1-dygn* symposium to discuss and debate biorelevant assays in Pharmaceutical Science

About this Event

A 1-dygn* symposium to discuss and debate biorelevant assays in Pharmaceutical Science w keynote by Prof. Kiyohiko Sugano

We are excited to announce a 3rd scientific conference in a series started in 2016. This conference was inspired by the success of the previous two events and by numerous conversations with our friends and colleagues in the pharmaceutical industry and academia.

This conference will bring together scientists from around the world who work on formulations to increase uptake of the drugs as well as develop models, instruments and methods that realistically represent complex biological systems.

The meeting will be held at Boston Harvard Club Downtown and will start on October 2nd, 2019 with a keynote lecture by Prof. Kiyohiko Sugano (Ritsumeikan University, Shiga, Japan) followed by a reception and gala dinner. The main conference will take place the following day.

* useful Swedish word meaning a period of 24 hours starting at any time of day.

AGENDA

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019

Keynote: Kiyohiko Sugano , Phase separation on particle surface: frontier in drug dissolution and supersaturation

The symposium will open with a keynote lecture by Kiyohiko Sugano, a professor at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Ritsumeikan University, Shiga, Japan) whom many of you may know from his previous career at Pfizer and Chugai (Roche) and as an author of the book “Biopharmaceutical Modelling and Simulations: Theory, Practice, Methods, and Applications”.

The lecture will be followed by a welcome reception and a 3-course gala dinner.

Thursday, October 3rd, 2019

A one day conference of thought-provoking presentations. We are compiling a lineup of exciting speakers from the pharmaceutical industry and academia listed below.

  • Greg Amidon, University of Michigan: TBD
  • Phillip Snyder, Vertex: Selection of enabling formulations using in vitro analysis and preclinical models
  • James Polli, University of Maryland: IVIVC for spray dried dispersion of itraconazole
  • Fady Ibrahim, Pfizer: Transfer Models and the Selection of API Salts for Basic Molecules
  • Sanjaykumar Patel, Merck: Predicting an in-vivo performance of Weak Base/ Supersaturating Formulation Using a Multi-compartment Transfer System
  • Eric Munson, Purdue University: TBD
  • Karthik Nagapudi, Genentech: Dissolution methodologies from in-silico to Tiny-TIM and their place in drug development
  • Dhaval Patel, BMS: TBD
  • Michael Grass, Lonza/Bend Research: Optimizing design and selection of amorphous dispersions with targeted dissolution testing
