About this event

Dr. Carrie Stott is the MSW program director and assistant professor at Carlow University. She received her MSW from the University of Pittsburgh and spent over a decade working as a medical social worker in the areas of critical care and hospice before earning her PhD in Healthcare Ethics from Duquesne University.

Dr. Stott facilitates courses for Carlow’s Underserved and Rural Engagement Program, she is trained in UNESCO’s Future Literacy, has taught various courses in bioethics for nursing students and healthcare professionals, consults as a healthcare ethicist, volunteers as a Congressional Advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association, and is a member of the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging’s advisory council.

Bioethics 101: An Introduction for Integrated Health Providers

learning objectives:

• Define bioethics and explain why issues in healthcare ethics impact areas of integrated health.

• Describe common ethical issues in healthcare and explain how they affect client care.

• Use basic principles of bioethics as a framework to mitigate and confront these issues in an ethically sound practice approach

Attendance of this FREE event will earn Social Workers, LPCs and Licensed Psychologists one (1) CEU Credit in ethics*

*Proof of completion of the post-presentation assessment will be required for those wanting CEU or CE credit. Certificates will be sent out after proof is provided. More detailed information about this will be shared during the presentation.

The Carlow MSW program is a pre-approved provider of continuing education credits by the PA State Board of Social workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors. The MSW Program maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
