Bioenergetics Christmas Meeting 2016
A Biochemical Society Independent Meeting
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE - NOW TO BE HELD IN PHYSICAL AND THEORETICAL CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
We warmly invite you to the 2016 Christmas Bioenergetics Meeting at the University of Oxford on Friday the 16th December, 2016, sponsored by the Biochemical Society.
This year the keynote lecture is being given by Judy Hirst, FRSC, Deputy Director of the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit, and Fellow of Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. Judy is returning to where it all began, as she studied for her Undergraduate degree in Chemistry, and DPhil in Chemistry at Oxford. Judy is at the cornerstone of Mitochondrial Complex I research, understanding the processes and structures involved in the transfer of energy from redox reactions via long-range electron, and proton transfer.
The meeting will be opened at 11:30 with Judy’s overview lecture. Following lunch, we will have approximately ten fifteen minute presentations, to be given by students and postdocs.
The meeting provides an excellent opportunity for young researchers to present their work to an expert audience in an informal environment, bringing to the fore the talented and varied research being conducted in the UK.
If you are interested in attending this meeting, please register. There is no registration fee for the meeting and Student Members of the Biochemical Society are eligible for Student Bursaries of up to £100.
If you or a member of your group is interested in presenting work at this meeting, please email their name and a proposed title for their talk and we will endeavour to include them in the afternoon program. We will confirm whether proposed talks have been accepted well ahead of the meeting. The program will be finalised in early December, and another email will be sent with this and more details about the event and venue.
