Discover Biodiversity at Rundle Park
Nature Alberta and Root for Trees invite invite you to a fun and educational evening of at Rundle Park (parking map below). Bring your own mug as we have hired 'The Mule' from the Colombian to provide you with coffee or tea!
Activities (rotating schedule):
- Community science nature walk
- Tree planting workshop
- Invasive weed pulling workshop
Event Highlights:
- Learn about local plants and animals.
- Participate in hands-on conservation activities.
- Explore the beauty of Edmonton's River Valley.
- Connect with local environmental organizations.
Registration:
Please arrive by 5:30 PM to register, get complimentary coffee or tea, and visit our exhibitor tents. This event has 3 workshops that you will rotate through so it is important to register so we can assign you to your group!

5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Wear closed toed shoes if you would like to participate in the planting activity.
Bring clothing layers appropriate to the weather
Please bring a reusable mug or cup for complimentary tea or coffee!
Event Schedule
5:30 p.m. - Registration and exhibitor tents, The Colombian Coffee Truck "The Mule" will be onsite for your enjoyment with free coffee and tea!
6:00 to 6:45 p.m. - First Workshop (nature walk, planting or invasive plant pulling)
6:50 to 7:35 p.m. - Second Workshop (nature walk, planting or invasive plant pulling)
7:40 to 8:25 p.m. - Third Workshop (nature Walk, planting or invasive plant pulling)
Weather
Root for Trees will plant rain or shine! In the event of severe weather, volunteer plantings may be shortened or cancelled for staff and public safety.
Severe weather conditions that would necessitate cancellation include:
- Thunderstorms or lightning
- Temperature equal to or above 34°C, including the Humidex
- Wind, including gusts, of over 45 km/h
- An air quality health index (AQHI) of 7 or above
The City of Edmonton retains the right to modify or cancel the planting in the case of inclement weather and public safety. Please check our webpage for up to date information.
