Event Details

An invitation from Ed Clay:

I learned about Biochar in November when Transition Sonoma Valley presented an evening with Ray Gallian and Jerome Chambless of the Sonoma Biochar Initiative. I am excited to be able to have arranged for Jerome to present a 3 hour hands-on education session on Saturday, March 9. We will meet at Hudson Vineyards at 9AM. Following Jerome's "classroom" on biochar we will inoculate a cubic yard of biochar with microbes and fungi. Each participant will leave with approximately a cubic foot of biochar.
Ignore google map and go 1.1 miles east of the Napa/Sonoma County line

Transition Sonoma Valley

Transition Sonoma Valley is focused on building a responsive network of local citizens, groups and businesses to create a resilient, self-reliant community in response to the challenges of climate change, peak oil, and economic instability.

Transition United States is a resource and catalyst for building resilient communities across the United States that are able to withstand severe energy, climate or economic shocks while creating a better quality of life in the process. We will accomplish our mission by inspiring, encouraging, supporting, networking and training individuals and their communities as they consider, adopt, adapt, and implement the Transition approach to community empowerment and change.

The Transition movement is a set of inspiring ideas for creating an attractive and enticing vision of how our community can be. The converging crises of climate change and oil depletion and economic instability cannot be solved separately, and they cannot be solved with technological miracles, but only by lessening our dependence on fossil fuels. This doesn’t mean a bleaker future. The heart of transition is the belief that if we engage with enough imagination and ingenuity to unlock the collective genius of our communities, we can choose a future that is more satisfying, just and sustainable than what we have now.
