bio-ceramics, biomaterial making
Overview
Making with waste streams
About this event
Learn how to make bio-ceramics with biodesigner Weronika Turowska from Blunik Studio.
Curious about biomaterials, circular design, or just love rolling up your sleeves and making things? This hands-on workshop invites you to step into the world where science, craft, and sustainability meet.
In this session, you’ll:
Experiment like a biodesigner - learn how biology and material science can be playful tools for design.
🥚 Transform eggshells into biocomposites - repurpose a humble kitchen byproduct into a strong, beautiful material.
Play with colour & texture - explore natural dyes and surface finishes to personalise your creations.
Make and shape - learn how to fabricate moulds to cast your biocomposite into unique objects like coasters.
We’ll balance theory and making: you’ll understand the role of waste in material innovation while experimenting with tactile processes and creative design outcomes.
By the end, you’ll take home:
• A one-of-a-kind object made by you
• New skills in biomaterial making
• Fresh ideas for circular design and waste-to-resource thinking
All materials are provided (but if you’ve got quirky moulds at home, bring them along and test them out!).
