As CEO & Co-Chairman of Rudin Management Company, William C. Rudin oversees the Rudin real estate portfolio of 16 office towers comprising more than 10 million square feet of Class A space, 18 luxury apartment buildings, and a world-class residential development project, all in New York City (

In addition, Bill works tirelessly in Washington, D.C., Albany, and City Hall on behalf of groups including the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), the Real Estate Roundtable, the Association for a Better New York (ABNY), and the Partnership for New York City. Bill currently serves as Chairman of REBNY, the Battery Conservancy, and is Vice-Chairman of the Real Estate Roundtable. He sits on the boards of ABNY, the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York University, the Economic Club of New York, the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation, and the Alliance for Downtown New York.

Bill and his wife, Ophelia, reside in New York City along with their daughter Samantha and her husband, David, and their son Michael and his wife, Sabrina.  They are also proud grandparents of two.  Bill and his family proudly continue the Rudin tradition of helping to make New York City a better place to live, work and visit.

The City College of New York mourns the passing of its distinguished board member and dear friend, Jack Rudin. Mr. Rudin was a titan of this city. He dedicated his entire career to making New York City a more beautiful and welcoming city for its residents and for the millions who visit each year. He was also a fiercely loyal son of and a dedicated contributor to City College. He served as a member of the board on the 21st Century Foundation and the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. Since his attendance at the College, he spent decades supporting almost every area of campus life - ensuring that the College he was so proud of would continue to welcome new generations of students.  It is an understatement to say that he will be missed, but we are grateful for the life he led.

One of Mr. Rudin’s enduring legacies at City College is the establishment of The Samuel Rudin Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program in 1996. The Samuel Rudin Visiting Scholars Lecture, a component of this program, provides an opportunity for members of the college community to interact with outstanding scholars, business leaders, and government officials, enriching the education experience on campus. The Program is also intended to foster communication within the academic community of New York City.  Samuel Rudin, a civic and philanthropic leader in New York City, was a member of the Class of 1918 at City College and went on to a prominent real estate career. The Samuel Rudin Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program is supported by a grant from the May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation, Inc.

Previous Rudin Scholars include Walter Cronkite, Tom Brokaw, Walter E. Mosley, Susan Lacy, Ric Burns, Frank McCourt, the Honorable Mario Cuomo, Nobel Laureate Dr. Harold E. Varmus, Distinguished Physicist Michio Kaku, Tony Award-Winning Producer Vivek Tiwary, Nicholas Kristof and Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
