Please mark your calendars for the December Slow Ride! We're on our Saturday morning ride schedule, this month starting and finishing at the brand new Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA in downtown Pensacola. The YMCA is our ride sponsor, and they will have snacks and refreshments for us post-ride, and will give us tours of the new YMCA. The facility is incredible, with everything from weights, cardio, basketball, group exercise, swimming pool, and Andrews Institute rehabilitation--all under one roof!
More on the Slow Ride:
Would you like to ride your bike more often with like minded people, but find yourself intimidated by lycra clad cyclists riding $5,000 bikes made from "unobtanium?" Maybe you'd just like to explore the quiet, scenic streets of Pensacola's many historic neighborhoods, but don't feel like you have the experience or skills to safely navigate your bike on city streets. We want to see you get out and ride more often, so we can help make that happen.
We started monthly “slow rides” in May, 2015. These rides are designed for people with any kind of bike and any skill level. Each ride will be 1 – 1 ½ hours long, at a casual pace. Nobody will be “dropped” or left behind. Children ages 10 - 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Cyclists under 16 must wear a helmet by law; ages 16 and up helmets are recommended but are not required by law.
Because most cyclists are “self taught,” each month we will be offering you information about bicycle laws, safety tips, and addressing different bicycling skills that will help keep your rides safe and enjoyable. Items to be covered include such things as lane positioning, safe and effective ways to make left turns, navigating railroad tracks, and many others. Each month we will start from a different location and our various hosts make the Ride even more fun with special discounts for riders, educational information, and more.
Come join us!
