Event description
A night of Women led Country music from Sydney's Inner West

About this event

Cultural Arts Collective @ Pratten Park Bowling Club - A community based venue pushing contemporary music boundaries with culturally diverse original AUSTRALIAN music, funded by Live Music Australia!

A night of Country music from the Inner West!

Big Sky Mountain

Big enough to be a netball team but small enough to be a good luck charm…

BSM don’t look like your typical Australian country band…. Seven women, a kaleidoscope of harmonies and one trumpet – chaotic, earthy and real. Big Sky Mountain make no apologies for not having an obscure cool edge, they are what they are and they love what they do.

With a sound reminiscent of The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and a pinch of Casey Musgraves, these ladies can sing and they’ll hold you to ransom with their jaw dropping harmonies, driving rhythm section and fierce musicality.

2019 saw the birth of “All Our Minutes” - the first studio album from Big Sky Mountain. Produced by ARIA award winner Paul McKercher the album is clean, classy and commercial and already boasts international sales in Europe, South America and Asia.

In their short time together, the band has already played gigs at the Perisher Peak Music Festival, Girrakool Blues Festival, completed regional tours, become regulars on the Sydney live music scene and where also invited to perform at the 2020 National Fold Festival in Canberra.

Early 2020 also saw Big Sky Mountain make their debut at the Tamworth Country Music Festival to packed shows that captured them a bounty of new fans.

Special Guest support -Swamp Daisies

Swamp Daisies are a recently formed band, but the frontline is an institution in the pool of Music Sydney, having backed all kinds of artists, entertained all manner of crowds, taught a kaleidoscope of music students (as TAFE band teachers), and each fronted their own acts during long careers.

Genuine daughters of classic rock’n’roll, folk and soul, Tania Bowra and Melanie Forbes are guitarist singers that have enjoyed respective success as songwriters - Tania a solo artist, Melanie one half of NZ duo Sistermadly. Tania’s debut album Heaven and Earth was nominated for an ARIA back in the day and she has produced several of her own albums since plus for the likes of Stiff Gins and The Green Hand Band.

Tania and Mel have each made contributions to well-loved artists - Jenny Morris, Jimmy Little, Eddi Reader (ex-Fairground Attraction), Shanley Del, Stiff Gins to name some.

Between them they’ve shared a stage with everyone from Wendy Matthews, Katie Noonan to Leo Sayer, Bruce Cockburn.. Air Supply for Christ’s sake! And most recently in the all-female band for the Sydney spectacular 'Hear me Roar' featuring some of the country’s top female entertainers – Christine Anu, Emma Pask, Sarah McCleod, Melinda Schneider and more.

The live experience of Swamp Daises is hard to describe and even harder to predict. Suffice to say they’ll make you smile and laugh. Then they’ll make you dance a little or sway involuntarily while you sing along to choruses you don’t yet know.

Doors open - 6pm

1st Performance - 7.30pm

2nd Performance - 8.30pm (ish)

The Club is volunteer run.

Come and support our local community, with food by our Refugee Social Enterprise (Metro Assist) and some local craft beer at the Bar!

The Bar will be open to all and there is a disused bowling green where kids and families can hang out (if you don't want to see the bands).
