Shake off those winter cobwebs with a challenging hike up Big Rock Ridge. Great views await us atop the second highest point in Marin County.
This is a fairly strenuous hike of about 8 miles with 2,000 feet in elevation change.
WHERE TO MEET
We'll assemble near the trailhead for the Queenstone Fire Road. From San Rafael, follow US-101 north a little over 4 miles to Miller Creek Rd/St Vincent Dr. Take exit 457 into Marinwood. Continue for just under a mile to Queenstone Drive and park.
We will ascend Big Rock Ridge from Lucas Valley Open Space Preserve and return through the Marinwood Open Space with a car shuttle back to our starting point. A shorter 6-mile option will be available to those that do not want to do the longer hike.
Bring water, lunch, dress in layers and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. If you have any questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or phone him at 415-543-6771 x321.
