BIG LIFE Connections: Wine Tasting at Truckee River Winery
Event Information
About this event
Join us for a pleasant Sunday afternoon visit to the Truckee River Winery for a tour and wine tasting. Established in 1989, Truckee River Winery is California’s highest and coldest winery. Started 33 years ago in the garage of locals Russ & Joan Jones, these UC Davis graduates made great wine for their friends and family. In 2009, they opened a tasting room on Brockway Road and expanded production to 2,500 cases annually. It was the locals place to have fun and hang out complete with a bocce league. After 10 amazing years in that location, they closed that tasting room – but never fear! They now offer tours and tastings at the Barn on South River Street, showcasing their production facility and mini-farm.
A family-run business with an interesting history, daughter Katie Carroll Jones has grown up in the winery (literally) and for 30 years has had a hand in all aspects of the wine business. In 2015 she became the General Manager of Truckee River Winery and in 2017 became the White Winemaker and part owner.
Enjoy a visit to Truckee’s ONLY winery, taste some of their award winning wines, and hear first hand the story of the winery and tour their charming facility.
