About this event
Try a new place to mountain bike ride and meet new friends! Join Truckee Mayor Courtney Henderson for one of her favorite mountain bike rides. This popular ride is an approximately 30-minute loop which we will do a couple of times. Depending on rider interest, we may add in a combination of El Burro, Jackass Point Spur, and Donkey Town Trail. It is an intermediate-level singletrack ride with fairly non-technical, flowy trails and a moderate physical rating. The ride will be approximately 1.5 hours (+/- 30 minutes). For map and trail details, visit Trailforks.com.
The gathering spot and parking for the ride is approximately 1/4 mile south of Truckee on Hwy. 89 (heading toward Lake Tahoe on the right immediately past West River Street). Riders will need to bring their own mountain bike, helmet, water, appropriate gear, food, and any drink they may need on the ride. At the end of the ride, there will be light refreshments to enjoy while you share in the camaraderie and fun of the ride.
About Mayor Courtney Henderson:
Courtney was elected to Truckee Town Council in November 2020, and named Mayor in December 2021. Courtney grew up in a rural, agricultural town of less than 2,000 people. She fell in love with Truckee in 2011 (on a mountain biking trip) when she found the same sense of community and connection to the land with which she grew up. She planted roots in Truckee shortly thereafter, integrating herself within the community and starting a family. She is a pro level downhill mountain bike racer, certified Level 2 BICP mountain bike coach, dirt biker, skier, and Olympic weightlifter. In her free time, you can find her hiking or riding our local trails with her family.
DISCLAIMER – ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Like any sport, bicycling involves risk of injury and damage. By choosing to ride a bicycle, you assume the full responsibility for that risk, so you need to know, and practice, the rules of safe and responsible riding and of proper use and maintenance of your bicycle.
Because it is impossible to anticipate every situation and condition which can occur while riding, the Guides make no representation about the safe use of bicycle facilities under all conditions. There are risks associated with the use of any bicycle which cannot be predicted or avoided, and which are the sole responsibility of the rider.
Trail and road conditions are constantly changing in the High Sierra and the Guide cannot possibly accurately represent the conditions or safety of the bikeways at any given time – on and off road. Truckee-Tahoe winters can severely impact the environment – you may encounter fallen trees, washed out trails, missing signs, snow pack, pot holes and mechanical equipment on the trails and roads throughout the riding season.
The Truckee Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Truckee will in no way be responsible for personal injury or damage to personal property arising in conjunction with participating in this ride. Good judgment and proper preparation are essential to any outing. By signing up for this ride you are agreeing that you have read this disclaimer and assume any risk associated with the ride.
Reserve your spot TODAY to join us for this fun adventure! Tickets are only $10 for the group ride and light refreshments at the end.
