Through the Human Microbiome Project we have learned that we’re not just us, we’re also trillions of microorganisms within us and upon us. Since that initial census, research teams have been mining a lot of big data to further explore the relationships that are key to our good health or may be critical players in disease. Come absorb something about how big data is used in research, how it is shaping scientific investigations, and what we’re learning about the microorganisms taking up some of our personal real estate.

Science Pub RVA connects curious citizens and creative scientists over a sip of some sort at informal gatherings in non-academic settings. No background in science is needed. A smidge of curiosity is all it takes to enjoy a fun and engaging time. Pub is in our name, but sipping a glass of water at these events is completely copacetic.
