Samy’s Photo school is proud to partner with National Park Photographic Expeditions to provide our students with exceptional Landscape Master Classes in our nation’s most scenic national parks. Bob Killen and his staff of national park Artist in Residence instructors will help you access intuitive, reflective ways of working that will lead you to create great landscape images. These classes provide hands-on, mentored learning in the field and ample classroom time with your instructor to teach you a capture to post production workflow (end to creative end workflow) using Lightroom and Photoshop.
Our National Park Master Class workshops include your lodging, all local travel, instructor tuition, post production classroom, course materials, post-class online support and meals in the field. All you need to do is arrive with your camera and laptop, and away you go to some of the most incredible photographic sites and professional hands-on training anywhere.
Big Bend National Park
Exploring Big Bend in one photographic expedition is impossible. Scenic opportunities range from the vast Chihuahuan Desert with its narrow canyons, colorful badlands, eroded rock formations, sand dunes, desert plains, dry washes and oases. In this area, we will learn dedicated and specialized approaches for broad panoramas as well as how to capture intricate editorial details. Then we will shift our workflow gears and focus on areas of the Rio Grande where we will concentrate on artistic interpretation and voice.
In the Chisos Mountains, with its jagged cliffs and rocky peaks rising to 7,825 feet, we will find a cool, calm sheltered world of tree-covered slopes, and share trails with black bears and mountain lions. Here we will concentrate on reducing chaotic landscapes to their essence by exploring lens choices as well as selective focus techniques.
Big Bend presents our students with a diversity of photographically challenging landscape scenes. But what makes Big Bend an excellent place to Master Landscape Photography is its solitude and opportunities to escape our own consciousness as we capture dramatic light and atmospherics in one of the nation’s most remote National Parks.
