Event description

Description

Bedford is testing the use of Participatory Budgeting to allow the community to address the issues around serious violence with the council and police in Kempston, Caudwell and Kingsbrook and establish trust and new ways of working in public services.

Participatory Budgeting is a decision-making tool where the community are given the opportunity to put forward bids for funding to help bring an idea to life, or extend an existing service that supports young people, families or the community. It is up to you - voters and bidders - to participate and decide how 15,000 should be spent in our community!

We want to invite a few residents, or small organisations, with good ideas on how they could help tackle serious violence to bid for some or all of the £15,000. If you are interested in this, please contact the email address on the poster, or find more information on our Facebook site about how you can access the bidding pack to apply.

The event will be held on the 20th June 2020 at Scott Hall, Barford Avenue, MK42 0DS and we would love for the community to come together and listen to the bids and vote for each of the ideas put forward. Previously, these decisions could not be influenced by us, and our ideas weren't always heard - it is time to welcome this community power and make a positive difference in these areas.

Please find more information on applying to bid throigh our Facebook Page @ Bid4Better, our new deadline for accepting bids is Saturday 16th May 2020.
