Description

This informative and interactive seminar will provide you with leading practice insights and practical tools to grow and maximize your bicycle travel and tourism offering.

This professional workshop is geared towards economic development agencies, tourism bureaus, chambers of commerce, convention and visitor bureaus, destination marketing organizations, hospitality business owners and managers, bicycle advocates and anyone interested in helping their community or region benefit from increased bicycle travel and tourism.

Key topics to be covered include:

  1. The Business Case – using case studies from rural, regional and major urban centers to show the benefits and how model communities are facilitating positive change and development
  2. Assessing your bike tourism maturity – work through a practical tool to help you work out where you are and what gaps you should address to make a difference
  3. How National Bicycle Advocacy Groups can assist you – who the key organizations are and how can they assist your local community
  4. The ‘Gold’ standard of bike tourism destinations (what success looks like) across a range of segments – sightseeing, road biking, mountain biking, long-distance and bikepacking – and how they got there?
  5. Marketing and promotion – how to drive more customers and/or increase length of stay and daily spend
  6. Product development and funding – how to get the $ to invest in product development and marketing / funding and how to select and drive product development

The seminar will conclude with an interactive session developing your Destination Development Roadmap to clarify your approach and plan for developing bicycle travel and tourism, the barriers and enablers to destination development and how destinations have overcome barriers and fast-tracked enablers.
