Mardi Gras 2021 is just around the corner, and Bi+ Visibility will be joining the celebrations again for the third year in a row!
Come join us in a fabulous celebration of the Bi+ community, inclusive of all multi-gender attracted identities (including but not limited to pansexual, poly sexual, queer, and fluid).
Mardi Gras is still going ahead, but will be quite different to previous years. The parade will run inside the Sydney Cricket Ground, with a ticketed audience and COVIDSafe spacing.
For more info about the COVID safety measures, please follow this link: https://mardigras.org.au/mardi-gras-parade-2021
Our float will be the punniest of them all, involving bicycles! We’ll have some people riding bicycles (all decked out in Bi flag colours), and other holding large bicycle props and signs.
Ticket prices (includes a shirt and helmet):
Early bird (On sale 12th Jan ) - $50
Second release (On sale 19 Jan) - $55
Final release (On sale 26 Jan) - $60
There are only 40 spaces available, so get in quick before we sell out!
Dates:
The parade will be on 6 March 2021. You’ll need to be there from mid-afternoon until late (possibly 10pm or 11pm). You will also need to be available for one rehearsal and briefing in the weeks before the parade (details to come soon).
Logistics:
As a part of our entry we will be learning some basic, simple dance moves which will require a rehearsal prior to the day of the parade. Please keep a close eye on our page for updates in regard to this. We will also send out a video of the routine to give participants the opportunity to learn and practice the routine at home.
Costumes:
Each participant will be allocated a colour from the bi flag, and we request participants dress in accordance to the colour they’ve been assigned. In line with the BiCycle theme, we will provide participants with a shirt and helmet, however encourage everyone to wear athletic wear alongside there in your designated colour.
Keep an eye on this space for more details and ticket info soon!
Additional info:
As a small community based organisation, running events during these uncertain times has significant financial challenges. This is especially the case should an announcement cancellation be made after funds have begun to be spent (eg on props, costuming etc). As such, refunds will not be available; however, all tickets will be carried over to next year’s parade, ensuring ticket holders a place in next year’s event free of charge. Other personal circumstances resulting in individual cancellations can be discussed with the organisers on a case-by-case basis (especially in situations involving potential COVID exposure, awaiting results, etc.)
