Description

The second in the Bharatanatyam workshop series focusing on how to create visual poetry through dance. Sanchaara means to travel, to navigate, to wander. Through this workshop participants will be taught how to explore, to elaborate on a theme or a phrase within a composition.


In this workshop, there will be group discussions, interaction and analysis of the concepts. One full composition will be taught for analysis and understanding.

There will be a special session with a video presentation of Bhaava based compositions (On Saturday night).

Eligibility: Senior dancers and dance students with some years of experience.

Workshop course fees: £100 for Both Days (Sat 29th & Sun 30th July) - fee covers course, all vegetarian meals, refreshments and overnight accommodation

Your facilitator for this unique workshop will be: Mrs Usha Raghavan

Usha Raghavan is an internationally acclaimed dancer, teacher and choreographer hailing from Chennai, India. A post graduate in Indian philosophy, Usha mastered the art of Bharathanatyam under the eminent gurus Sri Adyar K. Lakshman and Smt Kalanidhi Narayanan. Over the last few decades, Usha has performed extensively in several continents. She has produced, among others, highly acclaimed choreographies for the festival "Passeport pour l'inde" in France and on Swami Chinmayananda's life in London, both of which have received rave reviews from connoisseurs. Usha has also been interviewed by, and performed for Television channels in many countries.

The engaging dance workshops Usha has been giving over the decades to senior dancers and teachers have been hailed as remarkable for their profundity, authenticity and diversity in concepts. Usha has trained hundreds of students across the globe, has firmly established her reputation as a successful creative artiste and is justly hailed as someone who has made a huge and very significant contribution to the strengthening and propagation of Indian arts and culture in Britain bringing it prestige and professionalism. In recognition of this, she has been honoured by Milapfest the Acharya Ratna (Nritya) Award.
