Event description

Description

Judith Rustin, LCSW

This course introduces concepts from infant research and neuroscience that provide language to understand and engage the subsymbolic, nonconscious aspects of clinical interaction.

Four concepts will be addressed: the nature of memory in infancy, the nature of memory in adulthood and in PTSD, the nature of fear and how it affects affect processing, and the concept of embodied simulation---a concept specific to dyadic interaction. these concepts provide a platform for understanding how sub-symbolic experience is encoded and how to access these otherwise “hidden” components of patient-therapist interaction---in other words, what is going on that is not being communicated in words.

6 C/E credits

*Registration closes one week prior to the fist class.
