Event description

Description

Come experience 2 days of amazing, unique, and previously un-seen films by American expats and American filmmakers working abroad!

Friday's 5:15pm screening is The Uncondemned (2015), "recounts the 1997 trial of Jean Paul Akayesu for his alleged knowledge of the rapes and other war crimes during the Rwandan Genocide. The film features three women, speaking publicly for the first time, who were victims of rape and anonymously testified in the trial.

Friday's 7:45pm is our programme of non-fiction and animation shorts, featuring films from Japan, Nigeria, India, The UK, and more!

Saturday's 5:00pm screening is Pandora's Box (1929). Pandora's Box focuses on Louise Brooks' portrayal of Lulu, and "the rise and fall of an amoral but naive young woman whose insouciant eroticism inspires lust and violence in those around her."

Saturday's 8pm is our fiction short programme, featuring films from The UK, France, Germany, Denmark, and more!

Both later evening screenings are followed by a Q&A with filmmakers, academics, and professionals discussing the artistic and political implications of immigration, national identity, globalization, and borders.
