Beyond the Textbook Forum 2013

It is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you to join us at the world headquarters of Discovery Communications, LLC in Silver Spring, MD for our second Beyond the Textbook Forum.

Last year, we brought together more than twenty content experts and leaders amongst the EdTech community for an open conversation about the future of digital resources. The discussions stemming from that group sparked a firestorm on Twitter, Facebook and in the Blogosphere, involving thousands of educators by the time the day was done.

This year, we plan to start right where we left off. Forum participants will explore the past and present of digital curriculum, and then collaborate to ideate what the future ought to be.

We have split the event into two days. The first, Wednesday March 27th, will be spent in small group conversations with teams from Discovery Education. While optional, there are many people within the company that would love to tap into your collective brainpower. We know that you each bring a unique perspective to the table and hope you will share your knowledge with our teams.

The main event will take place on Thursday March 28th. It will involve in-depth conversations and brainstorms identifying ideas that aren't just theoritical, but actionable. We have handpicked a forum representing all grade levels, subject areas and roles within the education space. We hope that you will be able to share your unique knowledge and expertise with the group.

Discovery Education has been in the “digital textbook” space for several years and we’re extremely proud of what we’ve been able to deliver to students and educators in terms of core curricular resources, professional development and ongoing support through our community efforts. As we continue to venture to expand from Science to Social Studies and other subjects, we would be honored to hear your thoughts about what the future of core instructional resources should be.

As our invited guest we will cover all expenses including transportation, food and lodging.  As soon as you confirm your attendance by registering here, we will connect with you and begin making travel arrangements.

We are very excited about this conversation, and humbled by your consideration of this invitation. Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope to see you in Silver Spring, MD soon.
