Trauma Responsive Investigations and Prosecutions (TRIP)

Beyond the Status Quo
Beginning with the Complexities of Sexual Assault

Sexual Assault and Rape can be the most difficult and complicated crime types to successfully investigate from initial report to prosecution, some issues:
-Reported victims are highly traumatized.-Our understanding of sex offenders is rooted in older ideas that do not take cross-over studies into consideration.
-Male victims do not often report
-It is very difficult to investigate sexual assaults and involve alcohol and other drugs.

Neuroscience has illustrated that traumatic and/or high stress experiences can impact the human ability to remember, to articulate and to participate with the criminal justice  and other first responding systems making it essential to shift from current practices toward a model that is trauma responsive.
–This training is focused on “how” to apply neuroscience and  newer understandings of trauma response to the complicated issue of sexual assault.
–We will also spend some time looking at our current working knowledge of Sex Offenders and pointing out some interesting research that changes the way that we approach investigation and prosecution of this particular population with hands on practical application work on male sexual assault victims and alcohol facilitated rape.

Our Mission: is to dramatically shift the cultural paradigm in order to improve societies response to individuals who have experienced trauma, victimization and other complex experiences.

We Envision: A Neurobased and Trauma Informed Response to all incidents of high stress and trauma.  A response that empowers individuals and families while embracing compassion, respect and dignity of all people.

We believe that, in the past 50 years, the response to individuals
who have experienced trauma and/or victimization has
greatly improved and we have made great progress.

However, we also believe that the prevalence rates of victimization has not changed in those 50 years. While we are serving the wounded hearts and injured brains better, we are not preventing victimization. This needs to change.

² Squared LLC appreciates the diversity of our community and does not discriminate based on political affiliation, occupation, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, sexual history, nation status or origin, race, class, age, ability, height, weight, primary language, legal history, education or HIV or other health status. Our goal is to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
