Beyond the Shimmering Waters Earth Day Celebration
Event Information
About this Event
Women's work matters. And more than ever, the role of women in maintaining households, communities and our global environment is an integral aspect at all levels of decision making.
Lisette Morales is an award winning photojournalist whose work highlights women actively working to protect the rights of future generations on Earth. Her brand new works on view include a range of female identifying South Florida history makers from a variety of backgrounds, all with one thing in common: an unstoppable love for Mother Earth.
Join us as we welcome Lisette and her special guest, Lupita Vázquez Reyes, who will be on location from a community garden in Immokalee to remind us of the many ways we can honor the Earth in every day life. Lupita is one of several community collaborators featured in this heart warming exhibition bridging the shimmering waters of the everglades. Don't miss this opportunity to virtually tour, discuss and celebrate the life and legacy of local women making history this Earth Day.
Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. Funding for this project is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council. Special thanks to Love the Everglades Movement for providing technical support.
