Beyond the Basics: Meeting the Behavioral Health Needs of Justice-Involved Individuals


June 8th - Workforce Training & Client Retention

Activities on day one are focused on building the skills and competencies of program managers and frontline staff to serve justice-involved clients. After providing a brief overview, panelists will be asked to discuss the challenges of introducing and implementing these evidence-based practices and strategies of overcoming these challenges in various agency settings. Panels on day one include:

  • Keeping Clients out of Jail - Responsivity In Action
  • Integrating Trauma Informed Care Across Your Agency
  • Responding to Substance Abuse Needs - Beyond Relapse Prevention
  • Assessing and Mitigating Risks of Violence

June 9th - Cross-Systems Reforms: Challenges & Opportunities

Day two will assemble leaders from various criminal justice and healthcare reform movements, with a focus on how each set of reforms is influenced by changing landscapes in the other. Following keynote addresses from state and municipal policymakers, panelists will discuss key acheivements in systemic reform to date and opportunities for better integrating upcoming efforts to reduce criminal justice exposure for individuals with behavioral health needs and to build community-based capacity to better meet those needs.
