Beyond Safety Pins: Creating Safe Spaces for Clients & Communities
This workshop focuses on how we can be of support, be allies and advocates for people of color, within the LQBTQ community, our Muslim and Jewish communities, immigrants and to women. Within hours the election results being announced, home-grown acts of hate and racism began against children, adults, families and property of the targeted individuals and groups.
This workshop is designed to help professionals such as social workers, therapists, psychologists, nurses, clergy, and teachers learn how each of us can help support and be active participants and allies to groups that are being further oppressed and targets of hate.
We will provide actual steps and activities that you can do to help; in small 1:1 ways and in larger ways (social media campaigns, organizing protests and marches, etc.).
This workshop will be interactive and will provide professionals tips and tools for practical ways to be advocates in our respective professions.
CEUs are available to professionals with the following licenses, LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, Psychologists in TX and OK
