Event description

Description

The IMPAC Fund strives to be a catalyst of change. Our goal is to affect change by developing and deepening the sense of accountability among industry leaders, community leaders and elected officials around immigration in the United States and migrating them towards a pro-immigrant stance through bipartisan leadership.

The summit, hosted by the University of Miami, seeks to create and drive dialogue that promotes deeper ties and fosters support mechanisms between the business sector and immigrant communities. These communities are the engines of growth, innovation, entrepreneurship and new ventures that will keep the U.S. economy thriving.

Miami is an immigrant town, but our national leadership has failed us on the whole question of immigration. Our efforts look to boost that missing middle between thinking about a change initiative on immigration and actually achieving a desirable humane outcome for thousands of law-abiding immigrants.

This summit will be a step in that direction.

WHO WILL ATTEND

National business leaders, thought leaders, academics, and elected officials (with a particular emphasis on the South Florida community) who look to better understand the current immigration debacle, become more active in the debate and possess a desire to be part of the solution to effectuate change. Industries and groups represented will include: landscaping, tourism, agriculture, seafood, shipyards, technology, restaurant, banking, academia/think tanks, media, law enforcement, and legal.

Distinguished Guests

Notable guest speakers and panelists include: former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Voto Latino President & CEO Maria Teresa Kumar, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas, Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, Republican Strategist and CNN Commentator Ana Navarro, BuzzFeed White House reporter Adrian Carrasquillo, Congressman Carlos Curbelo, Americans for Immigrant Justice Executive Director Cheryl Little, University of Miami President Dr. Julio Frenk, DREAMers RoadMap Founder Sarahi Espinoza Salamanca, and many more.
