Beyond Pain Education: Psychosocial Interventions for Manual Therapists

September 27 5:00PM-7:30PM, September 28 8:30AM-5:30PM, September 29 8:30AM-12:00PM

Program Overview

As a clincian in the healing professions, you see clients who present with pain and other symptoms for which there is no clear medical explanation. These clients may have a "diagnosis" but have not been able to problem solve why they still hurt or can't do the activites they want to do. This can be challenging for clients and providers as pain persists despite our best manual therapy skills and pain science education.

High rates of lifetime trauma and unresolved past and present emotional experiences often underlie and drive these client's symptoms. We have new ways to look at these problems and new treatment methods that combine hands on physical therapies with novel psychosocial strategies that can lead to vastly improved outcomes. Explaining how pain works is an important first step. But, as body workers, we're just starting to understand how to integrate psychosocial interventions into our treatment plans.

This Introductory clinical training offers you the opportunity to gain novel psychosocial knowledge and skills that will be immediately applicable to your practice. These skills will enhance the way you conceptualize problems, psychoeducate, and treat. Improve your satisfaction as a clincian as you help achieve superior outcomes for your clients. We hope you will join us.
