Local Lancaster author Martin (Marty) Dutcher explains why he wrote his book for parents - Beyond Good Parenting - when there are over 200,000 books on parenting already available. Drawing on over 30 years of "on-the-carpet" work with young children and their parents, and many years in workshops and research, Dutcher uncovered some significant myths about children and learning, and what tools parents can use to help their children master cooperation and accomplishment - all while building and strengthening mutual appreciation and communication. Dutcher's work is not about tips or what parents "should do," but why we, as parents, do what we do and how we inadvertently undermine our children's desire to have an extraordinary family life. Dutcher says that you will find that you know more than you think, and yet use less than you already know. Don't miss this talk!
